Just read Nimish's most recent blog entry and I have finally decided that he's the most brilliant person I have ever met. Even more so if you've met him in real life. If you've never read his blog, you'd better start now. You'll get smarter. For real. (Okay, well, you'll at least get a good laugh out of it.)

We im'd the other day and argued (well, it was more of a friendly debate) about anime and Quentin Tarantino (in that order). And Nimish--being that brilliant foreign devil that he is--struck upon the great TRUTH about Japan (well, I knew the truth--he just recognized the symptoms): the Japanese are great at coming up with stuff you'd never think of, but they suck at implimentation. Case in point: medicine. The Japanese produce all kinds of new medical technology, but they don't fucking use the damn stuff. Go to Vanderbilt, for example, and most of the new machinery there is probably from Japan. Go to Hyogo Medical University Hospital (it's THE big hospital in this prefecture), and you'll find machines older than dirt. Where are they from? Who knows. The labels wore off 20 years ago. (They're probably Taiwanese.) I mean, the dinosaurs they resurrected for the free health check at the KG Health Center were fucking scary. They groaned and rattled dust into the air. Never have I felt like such a contortionist. ("Why should the machine move? You're not dead, yet. You move!")

Ugh, another deadline. One of these days I'm going to teach myself how to follow that fabrication called time just like everybody else does. Although that seems wrong, somehow....

::blushes:: Aaaw, you're so sweet =) Thanks a bunch!!

Just as a follow-up, I expressed my views on Tarantino and anime to two other people after you that day, and now I don't think either will rest until my head's displayed on a pike somewhere. I still think you're trying to lull me into a false sense of security... =)
